OUR “ULYA” PREMIERING IN CANNES ON MAY 21ST, 2026
Directed by Viesturs Kairišs and featuring pristine, striking black-and-white cinematography by Wojciech Staroń, Ulya follows a teenage girl in 1964 Soviet Latvia whose exceptional height leads her from a remote farm to a famous basketball team in Riga. As she struggles with identity and expectations, she must choose between hiding from a cruel world or aiming to become the best — Produced by Ego Media (Latvia), the film is a four-country co-production, involving Małgorzata Staroń for Staron Film in Poland as well as Allfilm (Estonia) and Tremora (Lithuania). This deeply moving coming-of-age story celebrates its World Premiere in Cannes’ prestigious Un Certain Regard section, with our studio proudly handling the entire visual post-production.
