Directed by Viesturs Kairi\u0161s and featuring pristine, striking black-and-white cinematography by Wojciech Staro\u0144, Ulya follows a teenage girl in 1964 Soviet Latvia whose exceptional height leads her from a remote farm to a famous basketball team in Riga. As she struggles with identity and expectations, she must choose between hiding from a cruel world or aiming to become the best \u2014 Produced by Ego Media (Latvia), the film is a four-country co-production, involving Ma\u0142gorzata Staro\u0144 for Staron Film in Poland as well as Allfilm (Estonia) and Tremora (Lithuania).
